Dutch Bros is all about supporting the communities we serve, but Dutch Bros Woodland recently flipped the script on the traditional giveback.
When the Woodland Recreation Foundation announced the “Go Skate Woodland” project, the local Dutch Bros shops in Woodland, California knew they could make a difference. The project had one goal- raise more than $607,000 to build a community skatepark.
“Skateboarding is a passion of our local owner and this project is a perfect way to be part of an awesome project to support kids in our community,” said Troy Ericson, regional manager of Dutch Bros Woodland.
According to Woodland Recreation Foundation, the majority of skaters in the Woodland community are street skaters. The dream of a skate park began when leaders recognized the need for a safe environment to skate and host contests. They want someplace all levels of skaters- from beginners to pros- can feel comfortable.
Go Skate Woodland describes skateboarding as “a life lesson, the lesson being no matter how many times you fall down, and you will fall down, to get back up and try again.”
In September 2019, Dutch Bros kicked off its plan to help. Shop leaders and broistas developed a limited-edition drink flavor called Laser Flip. It’s named after a skate trick and features coconut, raspberry and blue raspberry drizz. For every Laser Flip sold, $1 is donated to “Go Skate Woodland.”
When the project started, broistas recommended Laser Flip as a flavor to customers who weren’t sure what to order. It didn’t take long for it to be a fan favorite. So far, thousands have been ordered, raising more than $60,00 for “Go Skate Woodland.”
“We are so thankful to our customers for joining us and drinking the Laser Flip in support of “Go Skate Woodland” and the Woodland community,” said Sean Provost, owner of Dutch Bros Woodland, Davis and Dixon.
Laser Flip is still offered at all three Woodland Dutch Bros locations. The shops there have dedicated themselves to serving it up until the day their city has a skate park.
